Not the most prominent car in the movie, but again a great contender in the race to find a suitable ride to beat the Rio Police station cameras. Han takes this one through its paces in the course only to find out it wasn't quite fast enough. If Han can't make it drift around corners well enough, then, well.. time for invisible cars!
These started out as blue Tomica Subaru Imprezas. They also made a silver car but the silver paint really isn't very good for a small scale car. After ordering two on eBay from a U.S. seller I managed to find a Japanese seller that had 20 of them so I went for it. These are a hair smaller than most other cars I've worked with but that wasn't a problem for wheel fit or anything. There are several photos of these cars on the Internet with the wrong wheels. When in doubt I always go to the source, and a 7-spoke wheel was selected for the job. The small 7-spoke wheels are from a variety of mid-90s Hot Wheels donor vehicles, and every axle had to be chopped and refitted to the right width.
At first I did a simple repaint to silver, touched up a few details and called it good. A friend emailed me and told me I could do better so I went all out with the decals, from the headlights to STi and Subaru logos all around. But they came out really well and I'm happy with them!
Every time I see a 2011 Subaru Impreza on the road I think of all the work that went into these cars!
