One of my favorite scenes from Furious 7 is the off-road vehicle chase. I decided to tackle the time-consuming process of converting one of the Jeep Wrangler Superlifts into Tej's Jeep from the movie. The body mods were extensive and by the time I'd sunk 20 minutes into the project I knew it was going to be a full body resin cast. Tons of metal work and styrene went into making the original body master.

Matchbox made a Jeep series with 8 cars and one of them had the perfect wheels, chassis color and smoke glass. Matchbox cars are already in short supply as it is so it was by some miracle that with the support of a few people we managed to round up about 22 of them. The rest I had to buy from eBay in the end. I bought some 6-wheeler vehicles with the right wheels for the spare tire on the back.

The body was a ton of work to paint. First I sprayed the whole thing black, then masked off the roof and sprayed silver. Then I painted the areas inbetween the silver green, and had to wipe off the excess carefully.  Then back to black touch-up for the roof rack lines, and finally red tail lights, and finally a clear coat to seal it all in.

The front grilles are a separately molded piece, and there is even a tiny rock screen in between the bars. I'm very happy with how these turned out, and I'm glad I stuck it out and made 25 carded cars!
